UNF vs. Duke Ice Hockey

I checked out the UNF/Duke game last night at the Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex at I-95 and Emerson. It was a great game until about the last 5 minutes, when Duke scored 3 times, winning the game 6-4.

Your Jacksonville Giants!!

Last night I won 2 tickets to see the Jacksonville Giants of the ABA (American Basketball Association) play against the Atlanta Experience. It was the only team the Giants had a loss against this season, and Atlanta was undefeated until tonight. Go Giants!! It was a fantastic, close game, and the Giants prevailed, winning 132 - 118. Here Jermaine Bell makes one of his many free throws of the evening.

From sunny Jacksonville Beach, Florida! And yes, people are swimming! They had just completed the annual Polar Plunge, and I'm guessing it wasn't too cold in there! :)

Labor Day

Monday, September 5th was Labor Day, here in the USA. Since I had the day off, I decided to go to Jackonville Beach to watch the sun come up. It's just under 5 miles on the walk I take, and I'm usually scanning the soil for pretty shells, sand dollars, or sea glass. As you can see it was very low tide at this hour as well. The beach seems miles wide!
The recent swells from Hurricane Irene certainly left more stuff on the beaches and I found quite a few pieces of sea glass. Not the real pretty kind, but I'll take what I find. :)

Hercules is one of the several tigers (among other animals) that live at the Cattyshack ranch near where I live. They brought Herc to the local Chick-Fil-A to do a litle advertising and fundraising. I've been meaning to try and get out there someday. Meow!
